The Art of Running, Part IV – Intuition

“Intuition.” Who is she? Where did she come from, and what is she doing in a running blog? Is she a runner? Does she even think about running? Perhaps she dreams about being a runner.

The image “Intuition” was created by New York City spray paint and stencil artist Ray Ferrer. I got acquainted with Ray after he visited the “Art of Running” series on my blog, which led me to his artwork at Urbanwallart. After some correspondence, I found out he is competing in a contest to have his artwork displayed on billboards in Time Square. For an artist, having your art on display in Times Square is the equivalent to a runner running the Boston Marathon, or at least the New York City Marathon.

Ray is a few supporters short of qualifying to have his artwork displayed in the epicenter of American culture, a venue that is visited by millions each year. He has offered to create a piece of art for my “Art of Running” series, or for my use with future works, in exchange for 25 new supporters.

Visit Ray’s portfolio at Urbanwallart. It’s very cool! If you like Ray’s work, all you have to do is scroll under the main photo on his website, click “support,” fill out the info and a pop-up will appear thanking you for supporting him. It only takes a few seconds.

If Ray’s artwork makes it to Time Square, you will be seeing a piece of his running-themed art in the “Art of Running” in the future.
